"In all of living, have much fun and laughter. Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured." President Gordon B. Hinckley

"If you are still in the process of raising children, be aware that the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will--to your surprise--miss them profoundly." President Thomas S. Monson

The Good News

Is that a pillow under Adrienne's shirt in those pictures? Has she been eating Twinkies for breakfast? (Well, maybe) But, actually, that's a baby! A girl baby due November 25!

Visiting Daddy at Work

The girls loved seeing where their daddy goes to work every day. We have not ventured downtown for a while due to the crazy parking situation. We ate lunch on the plaza and walked around Temple Square. We are all so proud of Dereck!

Firsts

Kate's first day of dance! She LOVES it!
Kate's first day of preschool at Newcastle:
I thought she was tall until I saw her classmates.
Kiara and Kate are both loving their new preschool.
Mommy is loving the time to run errands before the new baby comes!

More Canada

We were lucky to go on a family horseback ride to Beaver Dam Lake. It's only about 1 1/2 miles from the house. Kiara even rode Mick by herself with Dereck leading her from Fred. And Kate had to try to find a lap on mommy.

Cameron Lake-one of the most beautiful spots in Waterton.

We hiked to Blakiston Falls with the girls. As we were sitting and eating our lunch, Kiara said, "Daddy, there's a black bear!" And sure enough, there was a bear just on the other side of the trail. We saw three bears that day.

Cousins

Another highlight of Canada are the plentiful cousins!

Another Way to Cool Down in the Summer

Head to Canada!
We had a lot of fun, but it felt more like October than August!
The highlight for the girls was riding horses. Kate loved Nellie and Kiara loved Mick.
That's not my camera blurring; that is thick fog!

Beating the Heat

Dereck was tired of sweat dripping in his eyes when he mowed the lawn, so he tied a sock to his forehead. He strapped on his Camelback and earmuffs and went to work.

Another way to beat the heat is to head up the canyon! We camped at Tanners Flat over Pioneer Day and hiked to Cecret Lake on the 24th. The girls found lots of salamanders in the lake.

This is the way to ride!

Draper Days 2009

We enjoyed our annual visit to Draper Days again this year.
Kate & Kiara always have to go on the train ride and pony ride.
Kiara & Kate have the best daddy in the whole world!
Look what I caught, Mom!

Jackson Bliss

In July we enjoyed our annual trip to Teton Village with my family. The girls had more fun than ever. We saw lots of wildlife this year, including two grizzlies!

Kiara misses Ali so much! She said the best part was staying with Ali.
Alicia provided facials for all. Don't we look beautiful?

Mmmm. Breakfast at Jedediah's House of Sourdough Pancakes.

Dance, Kiara, Dance!

In June, Kiara starred in "Wizard of Oz" at Kingsbury Hall. She was the cutest little monkey!

Fun in Park City

After Adree had her fun with her girlfriends at the annual book club retreat in Park City, Dereck and the girls came up to enjoy Park City in the spring. Dereck loved mountain biking up there and the girls loved the alpine slide and all the kiddie rides.

St. George in May

In May we organized a trip to St. George with lots of great friends from the ward. It was really hard to come home after all the fun we had!

Happy Graduation!

May 8, 2009, was a happy day. My sweetheart and my sister both graduated!
Way to go, Daddy! I want to be just like you someday.
Let's celebrate! Two years of class and homework are done!!! Dereck has his MBA under his belt. What's next, sweetheart? I am so proud of you!
Alicia received her associate degree from Salt Lake Community College. Sweet Jessie came for the happy occasion.
I'm proud of you, Sissy!
