Now we are all dreaming of going back to Disneyland! We had a great time over Thanksgiving in California. We stayed at a beach house near my Uncle Jon's in Oxnard, went to Disneyland...
...played on the beach...
...and went to my cousin Kristy's beautiful wedding in Laguna Beach. I have to admit I shed a tear when I watched my cousin dancing with my uncle and then looked over at Dereck holding our little girl in his arms. I realized that our little girls will not always be little girls!

Autumn
Kiara and her pony:
We'll see if Kiara is ready for the real thing next time we go to Canada!
In October my dad drove down from Boise. We had fun shopping at the Gateway...

..and we took a beautiful drive on the Alpine Loop to Cascade Springs.

Americana

If you haven't been to your state fair for a while, mark your calendar to go this summer! There is nothing more American than the state fair. Where else can you pet pigs and eat deep fried Twinkies (I'm not joking)? Kiara and Kate had a blast pretending to be farmers. And then we did our traditional run down the Giant Yellow Slide.

Reunion Sweet
Toward the end of August we had a great Wise/Williams family reunion. Five of the nine children & spouses & children were able to attend: KC & Liz, Misty & Bill, Alicia & Luis, Tiffany & Jared, Dereck & I. We stayed up at the Heber Valley cabins that the Church own and we did the ropes courses.
My mom made a teepee and cowboy & cowgirl costumes for the cowboys and Indians theme.
Alicia & Luis made a fun bean bag toss that the kids loved.
Sleeping arrangements were a little tricky with 4 toddlers and 6 adults in our one-room cabin. At about midnight Kiara still would not go to sleep and everyone laughed when I angrily said to Kiara, "Do you want to go to sleep or go to time out in the car?" And she said, "Time out in the car." But it was another parenting flop on my part because I did not want to take her out in the cold. Kiara ended up sleeping with Alicia & Luis. (Thank You!)

San Diego
In August of 2007 Dereck started his Executive MBA program at the University of Utah. Before he started this 21-month venture he surprised me and took just me on a weekend trip to San Diego. Alicia & Luis cared for our girls and we had a wonderful time remembering that we were a married couple before we were parents.
We stayed right on Mission Bay, swam, shopped downtown...
...rode beach cruiser bikes, and truly relaxed! Dereck got some body surfing in. It was very strange the first night to go out to dinner and to not have to rush back to put girls to bed. I have a wonderful husband and I was grateful for his gift.

Camping
As I write this it is the dead of winter, February 11, and I am craving the sunshine we had on this camping trip in July to Tanners Flat (about 25 minutes from our house up Little Cottonwood Canyon). We even bought a new huge tent for the trip. The girls had a blast and Kiara still asks to go camping. Grandpa Boyd, Lezli, Ken, Megan, Nick, Zachary, Alicia, and Luis were all there. Here are the girls having fun in the tent.
We did one of our favorite hikes to Secret Lake and saw salamanders in the lake. It started to rain on us at the lake and we hurried back down the mountain.
The night we got home from camping we heard "cheep, cheep" in our backyard and we discovered a baby quail. Dereck carried it down the street to a mother quail.
