"In all of living, have much fun and laughter. Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured." President Gordon B. Hinckley
"If you are still in the process of raising children, be aware that the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will--to your surprise--miss them profoundly." President Thomas S. Monson

And Now...Here's Our News
Dereck and I had our ultrasound on December 16, but we decided that it would be fun to wait until Christmas to find out if we are having a boy or girl. We had the ultrasound tech write it on the inside of a card and seal it. Then I gave it to my sister and she went and picked out a darling outfit for our new baby and wrapped it up. Here's the outcome and the reaction. It's pretty funny.

The Nativity
This Christmas Eve we had family over. Grandpa Boyd read the nativity story, Dereck was Joseph, Kate was Mary, Ava was Baby Jesus, Kiara was an angel, Uncle Lui was a shepherd, Grandpa Steve was a wise man, and I was a pregnant innkeeper!

Ava made a sweet Baby Jesus. When the wise man brought her a Rolo as a gift, she sat up in her manger to eat it. We're excited to have a new baby to play the role next year!

Draper Tree Lighting Ceremony
Draper City had a new event this year at Draper Park. It was very festive and fun. Ava could not get enough of hugging Frosty.

There were plenty of characters for photos ops.

The best part was when my mom tripped on the cord for this tree and the whole tree went dark.

Thanksgiving Feast with the Beasts
We have a fun tradition of going to the zoo on Thanksgiving morning. It's a good way to get out of the kitchen and into the fresh air. Kiara was a really freaked when a gorilla pounded the glass right by where we were standing.
That gorilla was not happy about his Thanksgiving meal I guess.

School Picture Disaster
We had our school pictures retaken this year. My sister said that Kate's picture looks like the cover to a Beverly Cleary novel.

Newport Beach in October
Dereck + Boogie Boarding in the Ocean = Love
Add dolphins and a sea lion to that and it's true love!

Ava + The Sand and Beach = Ecstatic!

Trailing of the Sheep
We went to the Trailing of the Sheep Festival in Ketchum, Idaho. After the sheep were herded down Main Street, my sister looked at the road and said, "There's the trailing of the sheep."
If you know what I mean.

I love my crazy family!

We returned to autumn splendor right here at home!

"Kiara's" School Project
Do you ever get excited about your kids' homework? That's what happened with this little beauty. When I first heard the word "diorama" come out of Kiara's mouth I lay in bed dreaming up what kind of habitat we could make. Then I mentioned it to my artistic sister Alicia and this forest was born. The adults were having more fun than the first grader on this one. I felt a little bad when someone said to Kiara, "You must have worked hard on that." And she said, "No, my mom did."

Rascal Flats
My sweet Dereck surprised me and took me to Rascal Flats in "suite" seats which included a dinner of ribs, cornbread, and watermelon. How fitting for a Rascal Flats concerts. Sara Evans opened for them and I actually enjoyed her more than Rascal Flats.
But mostly I enjoyed a night out with my best friend.

Ode to Zions
How is it that we have gone to St. George so many times whizzing right past Zions on our way to outlet malls and swimming pools? Zions was amazing! And the sisters were too!

I love these sisters of mine. A highlight of the trip: taking a shuttle to the top of the canyon in Zions and riding bikes down...in the pouring rain! It was so, so fun. Of course Dereck rode his bike UP the canyon, beating the bus. How would it be to be so in shape?

We discovered this cool, shady spot to play in the river on the Narrows hike.

This is a picture of my mom and stepdad right after I told them that Dereck and I are expecting baby #4. Do they look excited or what?Posted by Adrienne at 1:47 PM 0 comments
